Banagher celebrates its 11th summer festival on the 27th & 28th July 2024

Banagher is gearing up to host its 11th summer festival on the 27th and 28th of July 2024. The two-day event promises to be packed with an array of exciting activities and events for people of all ages. The Banagher summer festival is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, and this year is no exception. The festival will boast a range of water-based events, traditional skills, heritage and culture, health and wellness, and family activities.

The festival will feature the popular Martello Movie Night in Banagher Park, a 5k run, SUP on the Shannon, face painting, zorbing, and much more. Those interested in health and well-being can attend events in the Go-With-The-Flow area at Banagher Park.

A highlight of the festival this year will be Banagher’s first Fire Festival, where Forged in Ireland and the Furnace Festival merge to share some amazing blacksmithing and smelting skills with the public. Up to 40 blacksmiths will come to Banagher on Saturday and Sunday, providing a series of demonstrations and competitions of various aspects of their craft under the banner Forged in Ireland.

Iron smelting workshops and demonstrations will also be held over the weekend, alongside the blacksmithing events. Jens Jørgen Olesen from Denmark and Kamila Brodowka from Poland, two of the best in Europe, will deliver the smelting workshops. The public will have the opportunity to experience the demonstrations and take part in the workshops themselves.
